The First Annual Woodson⋅Young Jazz Festival, June 15th thru the 16th 2018, at Fort Washington Park will be the Smooth Jazz Festival event of the year! Sponsored by Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and Boss Productions, LLC in partnership with Washington DC – Howard University radio station 96.3 WHUR. Overlooking the Potomac River and the Nation’s Capital city of Washington DC, the First Annual Woodson⋅Young Festival is the ultimate Jazz music lovers experience.
WHUR-FM (96.3 FM) is an historic radio station and one of the few commercial radio stations in the United States to be owned by a college or university and the staff mentor the students of Howard University’s School of Communications. WHUR is the only independent, locally-owned station in the Washington, D.C. area.
Serving the Metro D.C. area. It is owned and operated by Howard University where Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was founded November 17, 1911 by three Howard University juniors, Edgar Amos Love, Oscar James Cooper and Frank Coleman, and their faculty adviser, Dr. Ernest Everett Just. Omega Psi Phi is the first predominantly African-American fraternity to be founded at a historically black university.
Open Day stage hosting today’s most popular Smooth Jazz artists and iconic R&B performers will be WHUR’s Angela Stribling enhancing the entertainment experience.
Angela Stribling is Brand Ambassador extraordinaire and Host of the PILLOW TALK WITH ANGELA on 96.3 WHUR and Sirius/SM Channel 141 – M-F at the midnight hour. Angela is also an accomplished Song Bird with two recorded jazz albums: the dynamic nightclub document “Angela Stribling…Live” (at the historic Blue Note in New York) and her studio recording from Tokyo, Japan, “Tokyo Sundays” (featuring NAJEE on flute). She is currently preparing for her third album, and has released the first single, “Pillow Talk,” produced by multiple Grammy award winner, MARCUS MILLER – featuring WILL DOWNING and GERALD ALBRIGHT.

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated and BOSS Productions in partnership with 96.3 WHUR Radio Station are set to host two historic events simultaneously honoring two iconic Men of Omega: Colonel Charles Young and Dr. Carter G. Woodson.
The Woodson⋅Young Jazz Festival is a two-day event, June 15-16, 2018 at the historic Fort Washington Park overlooking Washington DC and the Potomac River in Prince George’s County.
The Colonel Charles Young 100th Anniversary Commemorative Ride is also a two-day event that the Hawg Dawgs Motorcycle Club will ride from Ohio to Washington DC on June 15-16, 2018 to symbolically honor the horse ride taken by Colonel Young to Washington DC to show his physical strength and ability to lead. The Hawg Dawgs are distinguished Men of Omega that are retired and active duty officers, police officers and government employees who are Senior Executive Service Civilians and entrepreneurs.
